Mahwah, NJ, and Sunnyvale, CA, September 18, 2018 – Covalent Metrology, an innovative, new analytical service lab based in Silicon Valley, announced today that it will collaborate with EDAX, Inc., a business unit of AMETEK, Inc., on the application of energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) for the quantified characterization of a wide variety of materials.
Covalent undertook an extensive evaluation of competitive offerings and selected the EDAX 70mm Octane Elect Super EDS System equipped with advanced APEX software. This acquisition joins other recent purchases by Covalent as it continues to build out a portfolio of cutting-edge instruments and capabilities to better serve its Analytical Service customers.
Craig Hunter, Covalent’s founder and CEO, stated, “EDAX is a leading provider of innovative materials characterization systems. We are very excited to enter into this collaboration and look forward to working closely with EDAX to further add to its capabilities and reach and to develop new applications and promote its EDS technology.”
Under the terms of the collaboration, EDAX will rely on Covalent Metrology’s Sunnyvale, CA, laboratory as a Silicon Valley demo center for customers interested in evaluating and potentially purchasing EDAX EDS systems. The two companies also will explore opportunities to jointly market EDAX technologies through white papers, webinars and application notes.
Mark Grey, Global Sales Manager at EDAX commented, “Silicon Valley continues to serve as an innovation engine for advancing technology across a range of industries and applications. Covalent Metrology is aggressively moving to build a world-class capability and become a major player in this technology space. We believe this collaboration positions us to be even more responsive to customers interested in fully evaluating our advanced EDS products.”
