Job Description

Location: Sunnyvale, CA preferred; remote work possible

As Product Manageryou will be responsible for supporting Covalent’s product strategy to deliver a compelling portfolio of service offerings that drive revenue and positive customer outcomes. You will collaborate closely across the company to createimplement, and deliver services that extend the value of our capabilities, and deliver value for our customers.

The successful candidate will collaborate across technology, finance, technical, marketing and sales teams to create, launch, and grow Covalent’s services. You will support the creation of and maintain our truly differentiated value propositions, including market research, go-to-market activities, support sales and marketing enablement creation, pricing, and launch for new service offers.  The Product Manager will help develop and execute product strategies and supporting initiatives that support Covalent’s goals, meet customer needs and drive a high level of customer satisfaction.

This role requires great interpersonal skills. You will be comfortable communicating with individuals and teams from both technical and business backgrounds, and clients 

Position Responsibilities

Product management:  from prelaunch to scale. 

  • Responsible for making it happen – work the end-to-end product management for our initial services offering, including client needs assessment, business alignment, financial impacts. 
  • Manage the requirements gathering, prioritization, core use cases, business acceptance – you will define and create the go to market plan, market positioning, defining service differentiators, pricing model and more.
  • Supports the ongoing market assessment that may include Voice of the Customer initiatives and competitive analysis.
  • Interact with key customers to gain an understanding of top business issues, how our portfolio delivers and addresses business value, business process, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. 

Product portfolio planning and road mapping 

  • Tracks, evaluates, and communicates product performance against business objectives and KPIs. 
  • Provides business case development for product investment priorities in collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Supports the development of the product roadmaps and product strategy. 
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure collaboration and timely execution of product roadmap development. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure all disciplines are aligned on customer & product priorities to bring our services strategy and roadmap to life. 

Product marketing and sales enablement 

  • Responsible for working with sales and marketing to evaluate and execute prProvioduct marketing outreach programs via collateral, sales tools, training materials and other marketing tools.
  • Develops product level messaging and feature/benefits 
  • Provides sales and marketing support training as needed, and may engage as services subject matter expert for various client facing meetings or forums. 

Financial planning and management 

  • Provides leadership support in financial planning and P&L support through the development of high-level business plans and business cases in support of innovation and product development activities. 
  • Assists leadership in tracking and management of budgeted and forecasted revenue, delivery costs, and product line margin.
  • Contributes to the development of pricing strategies and manages pricing to support company financial goals. 

Desired Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience as a product manager within an applied science services team/organization (metrology, outsourced technical services, software solutions, consulting etc.) Preferred candidate will possess experience or familiarity with technical services, consulting services and delivery, metrology/analytical services. 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively define and deliver innovative solutions that meet customer needs in conjunction with cross-functional partners.
  • Development and implementation of the service product plan 
  • Involvement in some, if not all, aspects of product launches, e.g., development of messaging and positioning, internal and external business requirement gathering, internal and external communications planning, testing, training, implementation planning, execution, and user documentation. 
  • Demonstrated ability to translate concepts into viable products, features or business solutions. 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and creative approach to problem solving. 
  • Demonstrated strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to relate at all levels. 
  • Strong analytical skills. 
  • Ability to effectively work with and influence cross-functional teams to achieve results. 
  • Experience working in an agile, data-driven environment. 
  • Strong self-directed work ethic and communication skills, with a proven track record of success in a high-growth environment. 
  • Knowledge of Salesforce.com platform is a strong plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.  Ideal candidate will possess a minor or bachelors in an applied sciences field.
