Patterned Light/Wide Area 3D Measurement Services
Covalent uses an optical instrument to measure larger samples: the Wide Area 3D instrument projects patterned light on the surface of an object to measure and identify the surface topography.
Full 3D: A 3D model of the surface is created and can be analyzed for dimensions, angles, curvature along specific lines, as well as for flatness.
Speed: Measurements are made with high resolution (height resolution <1µm, width repeatability 1µm) on large (inch-scale) areas within minutes, while traditional CMM is a longer process.
Non-destructive: This technique is non-destructive and minimizes the risk of damaging the object, since no probe is used in the process.
Below, you’ll find more information about our patterned light/wide area 3D measurement services and common measurements using our Keyence wide area 3D instruments.
APPLICATIONS WITH PATTERNED LIGHT/WIDE AREA 3D MEASUREMENT:
Medical devices, electronic components and assemblies, quality control, mechanical parts, machined parts, injected parts, multimaterial parts.
- Dimensions (distances, heights, widths) on parts up to 200mm x 100mm (height resolution <1µm, width repeatability 1µm)
- Profile slices
